This is my weekly series “Transformation Tuesday” where I will be interviewing people who have lost weight, transformed their lifestyle or are just now maintaining a healthier life thanks to a low carb diet. If you would like to be featured please email me at lauren.rabadi@gmail.com to learn more.
This week for my Transformation Tuesday series, I talked to Madi, a mom with an amazing “anything can happen” attitude.
“I have always been a bigger girl. My whole life, I was bigger than other kids. I have PCOS and CKD (Cronic Kidney Disease). When I was 18, I met my wonderful fiance who is 9 years older. He loved the fact that I had curves. I fell pregnant not long after.
My weight then was 100kg. By the end of my pregnancy, I weighed 140kg. I went in to be induced for the birth of our beautiful son. The nurse looked at my chart, noticed my weight and asked me to get on the scales.
The look in her eyes was horror. I told her that I didn’t want to know the final number on the scales. I knew it would be awfully high as I could no longer birth at the private hospital.
After the very traumatic birth of our son, I weighed in at 117kg and stayed that weight. Even at his first birthday, I was 117kg.
A friend had been doing Keto over the year and her weight loss has been amazing! So on the 4th of March 2017 I started my new lifestyle.

I hate the scales with a passion. Your life shouldn’t revolve around those horrible things. I go by clothing size and how I feel. I have gone from a size 24 to a 16/14 and feel amazing. On the scales, I have lost 21kg. I am the lightest I have ever been in years. It’s great to be able to walk into a normal chain store like Kmart for example, and be able to pick up a size 14 or 16 straight from the rack instead of going to the plus size section. That was my most favorite NSV ever.
I changed to this way of living for my son. I wanted to be able to get on the floor with him and play with him. To able to run around with him. That was all I wanted. He is my motivation. We go for daily walks along the beach, or to the park to see the ducks. It’s truly amazing and such a great feeling of accomplishment when you can notice how far you have gotten.
It’s not easy this way of living. You will slip up, but remember that tomorrow is a new day and to just jump back onto that train. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it.”
What a great accomplishment & journey! Thank you for sharing Madi 🙂
