I am a cookie dough addict. And I treat all doughs equally – sugar, snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, gingersnap – you name it and I have a special place for that dough in my heart.

But shockingly, the sugary mixture is not particularly healthy and definitely has no place in a low carb keto diet. Well, that was until I had to feed the need and tried these delicious chocolate chip keto dough bombs!

Keto fat bombs are small treats that are high in fat and low in carbs (so, literally a fat bomb). These little bombs are awesome when you need something sweet, but also work as a quick breakfast, as a yummy snack, a pre or postworkout snack, or really whenever you need something quick & keto throughout the day.

I have seen similar recipes floating around Pinterest, but haven’t tried them until this weekend. I did spiffy up and recreate a few of the recipes I found and got the perfect recipe below.Chocolate Chip Keto Dough #keto #lowcarb #loseweightfastandeasy #lowcarbsnack #ketosnack

Chocolate Chip Keto Cookie Dough

  • Servings: 20
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

8 oz softened cream cheese, I used Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, I used Kerrygold
1/2 cup almond butter, I used Zinke Orchards (nothing but almonds in it!)
1/3 cup low carb sweetener, I used Swerve sweetener
1 tsp vanilla, I used Madagascar Bourbon
1 pinch Pink Sea Salt, I used Sherpa Extra Fine
4 oz low carb chocolate chips, I used Lilly’s Dark Chocolate baking chips (unsweetened baker’s chocolate like this one here is another, less expensive alternative!)

With a hand mixer, cream together the first six ingredients until everything is incorporated well and a little fluffy. Then with a silicon spatula (or the hand mixer on low) fold in the chocolate chips.

Refrigerate for about 20 minutes or until the mixture firms up a bit. At this point, you can scoop the dough out into 20 servings & keep refrigerated or scoop them onto parchment paper, freeze for an hour then store them individually in the freezer for easy, on the go snacks!

      1. I’m not sure how you are coming up with 3 net carbs. I’m only getting 1. The only thing I did different was use 4 oz of Hershey’s sugar free chocolate chips but I wouldn’t think that would make a big difference. And it’s my understanding that the 4 carbs per serving in the swerve/Erythritol is cancelled out??

      2. Hi Kim, the sugar alcohols do count towards the net carbs, but the chocolate chips have more net carbs than your syrup – hope that helps!

      3. Sugar alcohols don’t count towards net carbs on Keto. So if the total carb count is 5, but the fibre is 2, and the sugar alcohol is 2, then the net carbs would only be 1g per serving. Sugar Alcohols should really be mentioned in the nutritional info, otherwise those missing 2g look like starch (bad carbs).

  1. These are really yummy!!! I will definitely be making them again. Next time I think I might try adding a little almond meal just to give it more of a gritty texture like real cookie dough. But it’s great without it too. Thanks for the recipe!

  2. I have only been Keto for about three weeks. I’ve been struggling with the no sugar thing a lot but this is one of the greatest things I’ve ever tasted. I didn’t even wish I was eating actual cookie dough when I tasted this stuff. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  3. I just want to say I made a single serving version of your recipe and it was amazing! and so easy! Thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Sue, you are completely correct & I’ve updated the instructions to reflect that. Thank you!

    1. Hi Charity, I have never tried, but I dont see why not! They might not rise like normal cookies would though.

    1. Hi Sharon, I always use unsalted butter in my recipes so I can control the amount of salt I’m using. Hope that helps!

    1. Hi Mo, if you wanted to keep this recipe keto, then unfortunately a banana wouldn’t work because of the carb/ sugar content.

  4. Hi there! I’m in my first week of trying this “keto thing“ and just made this recipe! I felt like I was about to cave in to a craving for something sweet and this definitely helped! So yummy! Just one question, what size should each of the servings be? Maybe 1 tablespoon each? TIA and thank you for this recipe! Wish me luck! 😉 lol

  5. As a sugarolic, I didn’t think I’d find anything “keto” that would satisfy me. Oh my goodness! Now my only concern is keeping to my daily servings! So good even my husband was impressed! Thank you!! I feel like I have a chance at this “keto” diet now! My husband has been very successful but I’ve been too apprehensive to give up the things I love. THANK YOU!!! Can’t wait to try more recipes!

    1. Hi Kat, this was such a lovely message to read! I am SO HAPPY you like the brownies and feel confident in the keto diet! Please let me know if you try any others!

  6. Made this for the first time tonight. Very good! I’m thinking about adding some some cocoa to it too. It tastes just a little too cream cheesy to me. 🙂

  7. I LOVE this recipe! I have made it several times for my husband and I. Just one question, when using the unsweetened baking bar, how do you break it up into little chunks? Cheese grater? I’m kitchen challenged and the Lilly’s are so expensive!

    1. Hi Janet, so glad you like the recipe! You can definitely shave the bars, break them up by hand or with the tip of a knife.

  8. I would like to say thank you for replying to each and every question or comment posted! That is exceptional!
