Along with keeping my diet clean and keto, I try to workout about 5-6 times a week. My workouts vary (typically weight lifting with a small amount of cardio) but having something in my belly before my workout is a ritual. I don’t know if it’s like a placebo affect or what, but my workouts are always better when I’ve eaten something.

Preworkout snacks are typically light and, depending on how hungry I am when I wakeup, are usually around 100 calories. I try to go for a little bit of protein and fat.

Top Keto Approved Preworkout Snacks
Small handful of nuts (walnuts, almonds or pistachios are my fave)
2 hard boiled eggs
½ an avocado
Ham & cream cheese rollups (spread a little cream cheese on a slice of ham then roll it up!)
Celery sticks with your fave nut butter (I like these single packets almond butter because I have no self-control lol)
Bulletproof coffee (blend or whisk 1 -2 tsp of this ghee into your hot coffee for instant energy)
Cup of coffee with coconut oil
Piece of cheese

Top Keto Approved Post Workout Snacks
I typically workout in the morning, so my post workout snack is usually a protein shake (I’ll put my fave powder below). After your workout it is best to get in your carbs (if you want) now plus protein and fat.

2 hard boiled eggs
½ an avo
Roast beef roll ups with arugula, pepper jack, and horseradish Dijon mayo
Handful of almonds
Handful of walnuts and berries
Olives and cheese
3oz serving of a fatty protein like salmon
Pickles (weird, but pickles and their juice do an amazing job of restoring your electrolytes!)
Eggs and bacon with avocado
Protein and cheese sandwich (get the BEST keto bread recipe here!)

Top Keto Approved Preworkout Powders: I always have a shake after a workout instead of a meal. I think at this point its just out of habit, but my stomach always feels better when I have a shake over a snack or meal post workout.
