Why I No Longer Use PB2 (& Why You Shouldn’t Either + the Best Alternative!)

I am a Nut Butter Addict. I admit it that I can barely keep a nut butter in my home before I’m straight spooning out of the jar. When I came across PB2 I thought it was the miracle I was waiting for. Low calories and low fat, but I could still enjoy the taste of peanut butter.
But after doing some research, I found PB2 is not all it’s cracked up to be.  PB2 is not ‘clean’. They have to add a mixture of sugar and salt into the powder to make it taste better without the fat. It might not be that much added sugar but knowing what refined sugar does to mind and body – I try to avoid it at all costs unless it’s a special occasion. I eat nut butter almost everyday so I make sure that my variety is sugar free and made from whole organic nuts.
But fear not! There is a perfectly delicious and almost exactly the same substitute. Peanut flour! Peanut flour is the same as PB2 in that it is low fat and low calories; the only difference being that there is no added salt or sugar.  I know there is also a chocolate peanut butter version of PB2 as well, but that can be replaced too! Just add a a little bit of cacao powder to your peanut flour and you have a healthy chocolate peanut butter fix!
There are many different versions of peanut flour, this one being my favorite. Peanut flour is a great addition in baking, cooking, sauces, smoothies, and more! If you have a favorite PB2 recipe, I urge you to give it a try with the peanut flour, I don’t think you’ll regret the decision!
